Pat Cloud has played professionally since 1968 and has been an instructor of the five-string banjo since 1971. He specializes in all finger-picking styles including bluegrass and melodic jazz improvisation. He is included in the 1988 Oak publication, "Masters of the Five-String Banjo" in which Tony Trishka states: "He is the first five-string player to achieve a wide-reaching command of the jazz vocabulary, and as such inhabit a rarefied world which he now shares with a select few." Pat has authored two books from Mel Bay, "The Key To Five String Banjo" and "Straight Ahead Jazz For Banjo." His teaching philosophy can be summed up as a combination of solid music fundamentals plus the most important element of just "having fun." He teaches intro to Five-String Banjo, effective practice techniques, chords (structure and application), basic to advanced fretboard theory, and beginning to advanced improvisation. A rare opportunity to study with a legend in the world of banjo.
