BUSHWICK MOUNTAIN BOYS + ROCKY NECK 2.0

Saturday, May 17 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

$25

“Formed in 2023 to satisfy New York City’s urge for tight harmonies in Bluegrass music, the Bushwick Mountain Boys have over 40 years collectively of professional bluegrass experience, and feature four of NYC’s finest musicians. They’ve joined forces to present fine harmonies with spicy solos and a dynamic sense rarely heard in modern music. Seattle native two-time Grammy nominee Chris Luquette(Formerly of Frank Solivan and Dirty Kitchen), has teamed up with excellent banjo player Ellery Marshall, fiery mandolinist Cesar Moreno and renowned bassist Shane McGeehan. Ellery hails from Los Angeles and has lived in NYC nearly 20 years. His playing echoes the greats from Earl Scruggs to Tom Adams. NYC native Cesar Moreno is one of the finest tenor singers in bluegrass music, and plays everything from classic bluegrass mandolin to Dawg music and jazz with ease. Bassist Shane McGeehan is a talented instrumentalist and singer from the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, currently residing in France’s southwestern region. He is also a first call bluegrass musician who spends time in NYC, and was a founding member of festival favorites, Serene Green. In NYC they have a variety of regular gigs and can be seen at music venues across the Metro NY area.”

Plus Rocky Neck 2.0 Bluegrass Band the Southern California based group with a current lineup featuring Devitt Feeley on mandolin, John Rosen on banjo, Ron Vance on upright bass, and John McDuffie on guitar and dobro. Rocky Neck started in the bluegrass music field by winning first place in the 2009 Topanga Banjo and Fiddle “Band Contest”. In January of 2012 they took first place in the California Bluegrass Association’s “Great 48 Showcase Showdown”, competing against the top bluegrass bands from across the state. Their first recording, “Rocky Neck Bluegrass Band” released in November of 2010, was recorded in a 1920’s cabin in the mountain community of Big Bear, CA, and was mastered by legendary bluegrass engineer Billy Wolf in Arlington, VA. Their bluegrass arrangement of Neil Young’s “Comes A Time” as well as the fresh arrangement of “Girl I Left Behind Me” have been receiving regular airplay on radio stations across the country. There blend of fresh bluegrass arrangements, original tunes, traditional music is attractive to fans of not only bluegrass but also blues, country, and folk-oriented listeners.
