Based in Southern California, Looney’s Fortune performs traditional Irish music (reels, jigs, ballads) and assorted songs on hammered dulcimer, fiddle, guitar and accordion. Their tight yet dynamic instrumentation supports the well blended vocal harmonies proving that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts!
The band features the following members:
Georgiana Hennessy has been playing fiddle, piano and accordion for many years and she also is a terrific singer. She has played with many groups over the years including Atlantic Crossing and Reel to Reel. Georgiana’s energy, personality and sheer enjoyment of the music shine through her playing and make her a joy to listen to.
Matt Tonge is a fine guitarist using both 6 and 12 string guitars providing solid rhythms with great bass lines all on one guitar. He has been in many of the same bands with Georgiana and they have made several recordings together.
Patti Amelotte became interested in the hammered dulcimer and in Irish music after attaining a bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Chapman University. She has performed throughout Southern California as a soloist, with several duos, and with the bands Blackthorn, Granuaile, Better than One, and Crannóg. In 1990 she won the State Hammered Dulcimer Championship. Patti has performed on many television and movie soundtracks as well as releasing a well received recording with Granuaile.
Just in case you were wondering Looney’s Fortune derives it’s name from a pub, Looney’s Tavern, in Torrance, CA where they all met in the 1980’s. The jam sessions there were every Wednesday night and would run into the wee hours of the morning. They chose the name to honor the memory of the tavern.
Online tickets sales close at 6pm the night of the show. Any remaining tickets are for sale at Boulevard Music when doors open At 7:30pm unless noted otherwise. Tickets may also be purchased in person at Blvd Music or by phone (310) 398-2583 using a major credit card.
A $3 service charge per ticket is included in the price for online and phone orders. All ticket sales are final. They are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. For online ticket purchases, you will need to provide the ticket barcode for entry. Please print your ticket or display the barcode on your phone.
Please note all shows start at 8pm and doors open at 7:30pm unless indicated otherwise. People who already have their tickets (purchased them in advance) get in first when doors open at 7:30 pm. After the people who already have their tickets are admitted any remaining tickets will go on sale.
Please note that taking photos or any other type of recording is not allowed during performances at Boulevard Music.
