NATALIE GELMAN PLUS LILY WILSON

Saturday, August 20, 2016 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

$15

Natalie GelmanLive at Boulevard modern day troubadour, Natalie Gelman who performs across the country tirelessly and just released a new album with producers Charlie Midnight (James Brown) and Mark Needham (The Killers) titled Streetlamp Musician after a song she wrote about street performing and watching New York City change over time.

Raised in the old West Village, NYC stomping ground of songwriting greats, Natalie Gelman grew up amidst artists and true bohemians. She borrowed a friends guitar at 16 and started writing songs on it immediately and began busking on subway platforms soon afterwards when she grew tired of pretending to be 21 to play clubs in the city.

Captivating tourists and straphangers alike in the subway, Natalie stopped even the most hurried commuters in their tracks with her powerful voice. She continues to play what she calls her favorite stage while also performing at the House of Blues, Webster Hall and festivals across the country.

Compared to Sheryl Crow, Jewel and Joni Mitchell, Natalie’s music is contemporary and timeless. She writes honest, heartfelt songs – responding to current affairs and revealing parts of her inner self with the world. “Not too much about her, but somehow about me & everyone in the audience as well.” “Simply Terrific” 4/4 stars – The New York Post

Lily WilsonPlus Lily Wilson who grew up on her family’s farm in Napa, California with lots of outside time and open space to roam and create.  Bands like Fleetwood Mac and Crosby, Stills and Nash provided the backdrop for her childhood, and influenced her deeply.  Her career in music started when she moved to Spain in college.  She was drawn to the Flamenco songs coming from gypsy caves above the city.  She started writing songs, and soon was performing on street corners, teashops, and clubs all over Andalusia.

Growing up in such a remote place gave her a hunger to collaborate and perform for larger audiences. Now based in Los Angeles, she has released five CDs independently, and is currently writing and recording with producer/ bassist, Mark Browne (Melissa Etheridge, Simple Minds).  She recently won the L.A. Music Awards “Best Female Vocal Performance” in the AC category, and she has been lending her voice to other artists’ projects as well.  She has performed and recorded with Melissa Etheridge, Beth Thornley, Kiki Ebsen, Philip Sayce, Kenny Loggins, Patty Griffin, and John Batdorf.
