“A Night of Narrative: Stories in Songs”. We all love a good story – here’s a night of nothing BUT stories! This promises to be a show unlike any other with Robert Morgan Fisher & Tom Hubbard, PLUS SPECIAL SURPRISE GUESTS!
ROBERT MORGAN FISHER is renowned for both his wonderful story songs and his award-winning short fiction. Winner of the 2021 Montana Humor Prize, the 2018 Chester Himes Prize, and a finalist for the 2019 Steinbeck Award, Robert’s work has appeared in journals too numerous to list. His fiction has always dialogued very strongly with his music, and he often writes “companion songs” to his short stories. In a rare and unique public performance, Robert will combine fiction and song into “A Night of Narrative,” performing some of his most famous story-songs including “A Life in Music,” “Angel Within,” “Greenhouse,” his definitive version of “Big Joe and Phantom 309,” plus iconic story-songs co-written with Darryl Purpose, including “Mr. Schwinn,” “Late for Dinner” and “Oughta Be a Highway.” Robert will also read several of his shorter flash-fiction pieces, and do a deep dive into an extensive repertoire of narrative song covers (Harry Chapin, John Prine, Peter Case, Tom Waits, et al) with many interesting anecdotes about the songs and the artists. Accompanying Robert is spoken word legend, TOM HUBBARD. Like Robert, Tom is an encyclopedia of Narrative knowledge. He’s also a gifted vocalist, and will lend harmony to many of Robert’s songs as well as performing pieces from his own forthcoming album.
Online tickets sales close at 6pm the night of the show. Any remaining tickets are for sale at Boulevard Music when doors open At 7:30pm unless noted otherwise. Tickets may also be purchased in person at Blvd Music or by phone (310) 398-2583 using a major credit card.
A $3 service charge per ticket is added to online and phone orders. All ticket sales are final. They are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. For online ticket purchases, you will need to provide the ticket barcode for entry. Please print your ticket or display the barcode on your phone.
Please note all shows start at 8pm and doors open at 7:30pm unless indicated otherwise. People who already have their tickets (purchased them in advance) get in first when doors open at 7:30 pm. After the people who already have their tickets are admitted any remaining tickets will go on sale.
Please note that taking photos or any other type of recording is not allowed during performances at Boulevard Music.
