Not the “Three Tenors” but even better for guitar fans—three members of USC Thorton School of Music Guitar Dept. Featuring the Chair, Scott Tennant, William Kanengiser, and Brian Head plus several of their fabulous students performing solo as well as duets.

Scott Tennant is a founding member of the the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, the Grammy-winning ensemble composed entirely of alumni of the USC Thornton School of Music, and is himself considered to be one of the world’s top classical guitarists. During his student years at USC (1980-1986), he studied with Pepe Romero and James Smith and was a chosen performer in the USC Segovia Masterclasses of 1981 and 1986. He has authored several books and articles on guitar technique, including the best-seller Pumping Nylon, which has attained cult classic status. Scott Tennant has made numerous recordings as a soloist on the GHA, Delos and GSP labels, and with the LAGQ he has recorded for GHA, Delos, Sony Classical, Windham Hill, Deutsche Grammophon and Telarc labels.Tennant is best known for his performances of Spanish music, and his recordings of the music of Joaquín Rodrigo.

William Kanengiser has forged a career that expands the possibilities of the classical guitar. A prize-winner in major competitions (1987 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, Toronto Guitar ’81) he has toured throughout North America, Asia, and Europe with his innovative programs and expressive musicianship. He recorded four CD’s for the GSP label, playing music as diverse as Caribbean, Eastern European, and jazz. A member of the guitar faculty at the USC Thornton School of Music since 1983, he has given master classes around the world. As a founding member of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet, William Kanengiser has given hundreds of recitals and concerto appearances around the world, and has recorded over a dozen releases.

Brian Head, associate dean, academic affairs, professor of practice, and director of undergraduate music theory, classical guitar and composition at USC Thornton School of Music, was voted Outstanding Thornton School Graduate of 1991. Brian Head was chosen in 1999 as the USC Gamma Sigma Alpha Professor of the Year. He is sought after as an ensemble guitarist performing in numerous chamber and symphonic groups including XTET, Ten-String Music and the New World Symphony. His compositions are published by Alfred Music and Guitar Solo Publications, and have been recorded on Delos, Denon, Digital Revolution, GSP Recordings and Massax Productions. His music has been performed throughout the U.S. in venues including Merkin Hall in New York, the Ambassador Auditorium in Los Angeles and the Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, as well as abroad in Tokyo, Madrid, Sao Paulo, and Dubai.

Online tickets sales close at 6pm the night of the show.  Any remaining tickets are for sale at Boulevard Music when doors open At 7:30pm unless noted otherwise.  Tickets may also be purchased in person at Blvd Music or by phone (310) 398-2583 using a major credit card. 

A $3 service charge per ticket is added to online and phone orders. All ticket sales are final. They are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. For online ticket purchases, you will need to provide the ticket barcode for entry. Please print your ticket or display the barcode on your phone.

Please note all shows start at 8pm and doors open at 7:30pm unless indicated otherwise. People who already have their tickets (purchased them in advance) get in first when doors open at 7:30 pm. After the people who already have their tickets are admitted any remaining tickets will go on sale.

Please note that taking photos or any other type of recording is not allowed during performances at Boulevard Music.
