TRACY NEWMAN—KEVIN KELSO-KATHLEEN KELSO

Tracy, Kevin, and Kathleen represent two and a half generations of musical styles. They share a passion for songwriting craft in both lyrics and music.
Tracy Newman is a TV writer/producer and a singer/songwriter. In 1997, she and her writing partner, John Stark, won an Emmy and a Peabody Award for co-writing the “coming out” episode of Ellen. In 2001 they created the ABC comedy, According to Jim, which ran for eight seasons. Tracy has played guitar since she was 14. Her CDs with her band Tracy Newman and the Reinforcements are “A Place in the Sun,” “I Just See You,” and “That’s What Love Can Do to Your Heart.” www.tracynewman.com. She also has three CDs for children through her company called RunAlongHome.
Award-winning singwriter (not a typo) Kevin Kelso loves to write story songs. He finds his subjects everywhere: the Irish potato famine, the metaphysics of turtles, a small town’s contra dance — even a love song to a Roomba. His folk-inspired style is influenced by Arlo Guthrie and John Prine, but as a keyboard player, he also draws from Carole King and Tom Lehrer. He has four one-person shows of his original songs, has released comedy singles “Apology” and “Daylight Saving Time”, and has been the featured musician on Nobody Listens To Paula Poundstone over a dozen times.
Kathleen Kelso is an LA-based singer-songwriter in the folk/pop genre. Her songs blend catchy melodies and thoughtful lyrics with sweet, soulful vocals. After releasing her debut single “What It Is” in 2022, she was selected as a finalist in the Tucson Folk Festival Songwriting Contest. She has since released two more singles and an accompanying music video for her song “Crybaby.”
