DESCRIPTION:British guitarist Clive Carroll has a deep knowledge of music history\, arranges\, composes\, can lay down a blues with the best of them\, and is a captivating performer. Born in England\, Clive began his musical journey in Chelmsford\, Essex. His parents had a taste for American country and old time music and it wasn’t long before Clive was playing in the family band on a homemade banjo. By his early teens\, guitar in hand\, Clive was traversing the worlds of soul\, pop\, funk\, and traditional Irish music\, balancing his affinity for Slayer with the etudes of Tárrega. This breadth of musical curiosity was to become one of his strengths; even as a child Clive was as comfortable accompanying a group of folk singers as he was jamming along to Nirvana or performing standards with the Essex Youth Orchestra. Clive went on to earn a 1st Class Honours Degree in Composition and Guitar from the famed Trinity College of Music in London\, all the while balancing his classical work with forays into the world of the steel string guitar. By the time he graduated from Trinity\, Clive had not only penned orchestral works\, he had written an album’s worth of solo acoustic guitar music. A chance meeting with English guitar legend John Renbourn proved the catalyst for Clive’s debut album\, “Sixth Sense”\, which Renbourn deemed “a milestone in the journey of the steel-string guitar”. He subsequently took Clive on the road with him and the pair toured North America and Europe together\, launching Clive’s solo performing career. Since then\, Clive has established himself as one of the world’s premier acoustic guitar players. He has toured across Europe\, Australia\, the Middle East and North America\, garnering praise for his sublime performances of everything from 16th and 17th century lute music to Jazz standards\, Blues\, Irish reels and his own groundbreaking compositions. Lauded guitarist Tommy Emmanuel (“Clive Carroll is one of my favorite guitarists\, Trust me go see him!”) has also taken Clive on the road\, and similar nods to Clive’s musicianship have been given by everyone fromclassical guitarist John Williams to Madonna\, Guy Ritchie\, Michelin award-winning chef Jean-Christophe Novelli\, and the Sultanate of Oman. To date\, Clive has released five solo albums; “Sixth Sense”\, “The Red Guitar” (which Tommy Emmanuel cites as one of his desert island discs!)\, “Life in Colour” and “The Furthest Tree”. Clive has also written music for television and film\, most notably composing the music for the film “Driving Lessons”\, which features Julie Walters and Rupert Grint of Harry Potter fame. Richard Smith performs everything from fingerpicking classics\, originals\, Joplin rags\, jazz standards\, classical and everything from pop to Sousa marches. Joscho Stephan shapes modern gypsy swing with his playing like no other: With his authentic tone\, his harmonic finesse and his sense of rhythm\, but above all with his breathtaking solo technique\, Stephan has earned himself an outstanding reputation on the international guitar scene. Like no other\, he knows how to stand out from the multitude of current Gypsy Swing adaptations by combining Gypsy Swing with Latin\, Classical and Rock\, in addition to numerous interpretations of the well-known classics of the genre. His debut album ‘Swinging Strings’ was voted CD of the month in 1999 by Guitar Player magazine. In 2004\, Acoustic Guitar Magazine celebrated Joscho Stephan as the future of gypsy jazz guitar. For the CD “Guitar Heroes” in 2015\, Joscho Stephan invited guitar greats like Bireli Lagrène\, Stochelo Rosenberg and Tommy Emmanuel. Rory Hoffman started teaching himself to play guitar and piano at age 3. By age 5 he was the drummer in the family band. He currently plays over a dozen stringed\, keyboard and wind instruments. Rory has played the Grand Ole Opry numerous times\, as a soloist and as a sideman with Ricky Skaggs\, Kathy Mattea and John Cowan. Working with these stars and others has enabled him to play several notable festivals\, including Telluride with John Cowan\, and Djangofest as part of the John Jorgenson quintet. “Just Jazz Guitar” and “Guitar Player” magazines have written feature articles about Hoffman’s unique guitar style. Rory is 2-time winner of Musician of the Year from Nashville’s ICMA\, and is a 2012 inductee into the South Dakota Country Music Hall of Fame. Tour de Fourth is Rory’s latest album. Composer\, producer\, performer Benny Brydern studied violin and piano at the Richard-Strauss Academy of Music in Munich. He was invited to the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival to perform in the Festival Orchestra under the baton of Leonard Bernstein in 1988. He returned to the Festival in 1990 for the TV series “Orchestra!” hosted by Sir Georg Solti and Dudley Moore. He’s a late fifties and early sixties original Greenwich Village folkie\, one-half of the groundbreaking Columbia Records folk duet\, Art and Paul. 1961 brought him to Los Angeles where the folk music rage was just beginning. Art and Paul were the first folk singers to entertain at The Troubadour. He signed a songwriting contract with Henry Mancini and did nicely\, writing for folk artists like the Smothers Brothers\, Glenn Yarbrough\, Rod McKuen\, and Art was one of the founding members of The New Christy Minstrels\, an experience that took him on a wild journey of music\, laughter and drama. \nArt’s show is a peek at the often-hysterical world of the folk era from early Greenwich Village to the Hollywood Bowl\, National TV and even The White House.
