To conclude the series this year it seems appropriate to have a group in the “Heart of Screenland” that not only plays the Beatles’ music\, but also does a little acting with their outstanding tribute to the band that changed the world. To do the tribute right we are flying in Jon Perry who lives a little west of Liverpool (Baltimore actually) who does a fabulous Paul McCartney tribute. And to make that possible and keep the reserved tickets at $10 we thank Sal Gonzalez at Culver City Volvo and Mazda for making that possible. \nStart practicing singing Nah—Nah\, Nah\, Nah\, Nah Nah\, Nah—Nah\, Nah\, Nah\, Nah right now. \nThe 4 Lads from Liverpool are: \nJIMMY POU \nGeorge Harrison\, portrayed by Jimmy Pou\, toured the world with the original Beatlemania show. He has had a solo McCartney tribute show\, and has toured with RCCL Cruise Liners\, and has worked with cast members of Beatlemania. \nMIKE SARAFIAN \nRingo Starr\, portrayed by Mike Sarafian\, is a perfectionist at playing the Ringo drum licks and has always worked hard at his craft and has the same charm as the Beatles drummer. Mike was also a founding member of the Beach Boys tribute band “Surfin Safari”. \nAvoid the crowds and parking hassles of other areas on the Westside. SUMMARY:Culver City's Boulevard Music Summer Festival w Venice & The Pine Mountain Logs
DESCRIPTION:Summer breezes… an intimate courtyard… free parking… and great music. Escape to Culver City for the 2018 Culver City’s Boulevard Music Summer Festival. Also become an entry level sponsor by purchasing one of the 100 premium reserved seats at $10 each per show available at Boulevard Music starting June 20. Tickets may be purchased at Boulevard Music in person or over the phone and probably will not be available online. \nTonight we feature Venice plus The Pine Mountain Logs. \nVenice is a band from Venice Beach\, California that consists of two sets of brothers: Michael and Mark Lennon\, and their cousins\, Kipp and Pat Lennon. Their newest release\, the double disc CD “What Summer Brings\,” debuted in the Top 10 of the national album charts in the Netherlands\, and continues to win acclaim with fans and critics worldwide. \nAs a band\, the Lennons have recorded and performed together since the 1980s. Their music is a reflection of many of their influences while growing up in the small\, eclectic and culturally diverse beach town for which they are named. Their sound is at once familiar and fresh\, their classic rock and folk influences apparent in their pop sensibilities. You might recognize some of Venice’s influences\, such as Crosby\, Stills & Nash\, Fleetwood Mac\, Joni Mitchell\, Stevie Wonder\, Steely Dan\, the Eagles or Sly & the Family Stone. Their hybrid of folk/rock/soul is relevant\, alive and still growing\, with many fans worldwide considering them the torchbearers of the Southern California sound. \nVenice’s trademarks are their harmonies\, personal lyrics and high energy\, communal shows. These garner them huge ovations and encores at virtually every performance they’ve given\, from intimate theaters to sprawling festivals\, from the US to Europe. And it’s earned them major record releases on Sony Records\, Universal Records\, Atlantic Records and Vanguard Records. \nTheir distinctive vocal sound and harmonies have allowed Venice and its members to perform and/or record with some of the biggest names in the music industry\, including Bruce Springsteen\, Michael Jackson\, David Crosby\, Stevie Nicks\, Bon Jovi\, Jackson Browne\, Brian Wilson\, Cher\, Don Henley\, Elton John\, Michael McDonald\, Phil Collins\, Ozzy Osborne\, Billy Idol\, America\, Heart\, and the list goes on. The Lennons spent most of 2010-2013 as backing vocalists performing in the 219 show\, record-breaking worldwide arena and stadium tour of “Pink Floyd’s The Wall” with Roger Waters. Recently\, Venice was invited to contribute a track to the 2014 CD\, “Looking Into You: A Tribute To Jackson Browne\,” joining such artists as Bruce Springsteen\, Bonnie Raitt\, Don Henley\, Ben Harper and Lyle Lovett. \nFor over fifteen years\, Venice has enjoyed a great level of success in the Netherlands\, where their harmonies and musicality are considered a modern extension of what many Europeans call “West Coast Music.” Venice continues to cultivate their reputation overseas and abroad on a longstanding friendship with their audiences\, where their post-show meet & greets can sometimes last nearly as long as their shows. \nWith the release of “What Summer Brings\,” Venice reaffirms that they are still at the top of their game\, ready to evolve and expand to new territories\, musically and globally. \n“Venice is the best vocal group in America right now. They’re better than anybody else I know. They’re fantastic. I’m a student of harmony. That’s my thing. I love all kinds of harmony. But I particularly love theirs\, because it’s so natural. It’s not like anybody else’s. Very unforced\, very from their hearts. I’ve been telling people about them since the first night I heard them. I’ve told everybody I could find that they were the best. This is my favorite band in the world.”\n— David Crosby \n“Venice\, one of my favorite bands\, is quintessentially Californian\, with soaring harmonies. They sing and play their asses off. I’ve seen them knock out many an unsuspecting crowd\, taking the audiences\, who had not come to see them\, completely by surprise. It’s such a pleasure to play with these guys\, because they have that power.”\n— Jackson Browne \nPine Mountain Logs\nImagine a group as great as Venice with those amazing vocals doing covers and you have the Pine Mountain Logs. Their just for fun tribute band\, and one of the best ones as you can imagine out there. \nAvoid the crowds and parking hassles of other areas on the Westside. SUMMARY:Culver City's Boulevard Music Summer Festival with the Tony Furtado Band
DESCRIPTION:Summer breezes… an intimate courtyard… free parking… and great music. Escape to Culver City for the 2018 Culver City’s Boulevard Music Summer Festival. Boulevard Music presents 6 free concerts on Thursday evenings at 7 pm from July 12 through August 16 in the palm-lined Dale Jones Courtyard of Culver City City Hall. Also become an entry level sponsor by purchasing one of the 100 premium reserved seats at $10 each per show available at Boulevard Music starting June 20. Tickets may be purchased at Boulevard Music in person or over the phone and probably will not be available online. \nTonight we feature the Tony Furtado Band featuring Luke Price on Fiddle\, Rick Moors on bass\, and Mike Tempo on percussion.\n \nVery few musicians of any stripe so personify a musical genre as completely as Tony Furtado embodies Americana roots music. Tony is an evocative and soulful singer\, a wide-ranging songwriter and a virtuoso multi-instrumentalist adept on banjo\, cello-banjo\, slide guitar and baritone ukulele who mixes and matches sounds and styles with the flair of a master chef (he’s also an accomplished sculptor\, but that’s another story). All of the music of America is in Tony’s music. Relix hit the nail on the head when writing of Tony: “True talent doesn’t need categories.”\nA native of Pleasanton\, California\, who now makes his home in Portland\, Oregon\, Tony Furtado took up the banjo at age 12\, inspired by the Beverly Hillbillies TV show and a sixth grade music report. He first attracted national attention in 1987\, when he won the National Bluegrass Banjo Championship in Winfield\, Kansas. Not long after that\, Tony opted for the life of a full-time professional musician\, joining Laurie Lewis & Grant Street. A second victory at Winfield\, in 1991\, bookended his years with Grant Street.\nIn 1990\, Tony signed a recording deal with Rounder Records\, one of the country’s preeminent independent record companies. Beginning with Swamped in 1990\, he recorded six critically acclaimed albums for the label\, collaborating with such master musicians as Alison Krauss\, Jerry Douglas\, Tim O’Brien\, Stuart Duncan\, Kelly Joe Phelps and Mike Marshall. During this period\, Tony also performed and recorded with the band Sugarbeat and the Rounder Banjo Extravaganza with Tony Trischka and Tom Adams.\nBeginning in the late 1990s—influenced by such musical heroes as Ry Cooder\, David Lindley and Taj Mahal—Tony added slide guitar\, singing and songwriting to his musical toolbox and began leading his own band. He is a tireless road musician who performs in a dizzying variety of formats: solo\, in a duo or trio or with his full five-person band. He especially values the opportunities he has had to tour with such legendary musicians as Gregg Allman and with such esteemed slide guitarists as David Lindley\, Derek Trucks and Sonny Landreth.\nPlus Special Guest Luke Price\nLuke Price is a talented young multi-instrumentalist known for his great balance of taste\, rhythm\, and technical ability. He is known for pushing genres\, styles\, and fellow musicians into new territory while delicately respecting the great musical traditions that have come before.\nAt the young age of seven\, Luke began competing in fiddle contests and quickly made a name for himself winning the National Title at ages 12 and 17\, along with a long list of awards from contests all across the country\, including The Fiddlers Frolics and the Grand Masters. In 2014\, he became the National Old-Time Fiddling Grand Champion.\nAt the young age of 15\, he began teaching private lessons. While continuing to carry on the Texas fiddling and contest traditions\, Luke began to expand his playing to many other styles\, namely; jazz\, soul\, blues\, funk\, bluegrass\, and pop.\nAfter completing his B.A. in Professional Music at the esteemed Berklee College of Music\, he moved to Portland\, OR\, where he continues to record and perform his original music with his Old Soul Pop band\, Dean! He has performed and collaborated with a host of other musicians including: Tony Furtado\, Scott Law\, Jesse Harper\, Sam Grisman\, Jack Dwyer\, Love Canon\, Tristan and Tashina Clarridge\, and many more…\nNow\, he continues to teach privately\, while also teaching at Lewis & Clark College. Luke is passionate about passing on the Old fiddling traditions\, and also creating new music measured with taste\, technical control\, and joy. \nAvoid the crowds and parking hassles of other areas on the Westside. Parking is free for one hour (2 hours with festival validation) in designated structures in downtown Culver City\, and dozens of dining options are available within walking distance. Culver City’s downtown area is Southern California’s best-kept secret\, featuring a wonderful mix of historic buildings\, boutiques\, theaters\, galleries\, and unique restaurants opening onto tree-lined streets. \nThe Dale Jones City Hall Courtyard is located at 9770 Culver Blvd. in Downtown Culver City (corner Culver Blvd. and Duquesne Ave.). The courtyard opens at 4:30 pm. No glass containers or alcoholic beverages may be brought into City Hall Courtyard. SUMMARY:Culver City's Boulevard Music Summer Festival w Brenda Lee Eager
\nTonight we feature Brenda Lee Eager and her R&B soul review. \nFrom the farm county of Lower Peachtree\, North of Mobile Alabama\, you might not expect a chart-topping musical powerhouse to emerge\, and yet Brenda Lee Eager did just that. Beyond her original songs recorded by Aretha Franklin\, Ray Charles and Prince\, Brenda has a heart and voice as big as the world – having performed with the most important artists in American music history: Stevie Wonder\, Diana Ross\, Donny Hathaway\, Roberta Flack\, Graham Nash and the inimitable Ray Charles. \nBrenda started her singing career like so many other greats: in church. Having established a secure partnership between her music and her spiritual path\, she moved to Chicago landing the coveted female lead with Jerry Butler’s group (Motown)\, and was later co-featured with Jerry in his famous Billboard “Certified Gold” hits: “Ain’t Understanding Mellow” and “(They Long To Be) Close To You.” \nBut these accolades are a small part of what makes Brenda such a powerful writer and lyricist. Brenda inherently understands the relationship between storytelling and the song. Every song she creates retains a compelling sense of narrative – never losing sight of a deep humanity encapsulated in the melody and lyric. \nHaving penned several one-woman and theatrical shows of her own\, Brenda is no stranger to the theater and has joined forces with Catherine Kinsman and Ben Dowling to write the musical Spiral—a powerful story that addresses human civilization and its relationship with nature and indigenous cultures around the world. \n“Music is central to my life. It’s between God and music – and a lot of the time I consider those two words to be nearly interchangeable. My music is a reflection of the spiritual lessons that I practice in my life. SUMMARY:EJ MATHEWS BAND—CD RELEASE OF CHAPTER 3
DESCRIPTION:EJ Mathews 2017 Breakout Artist of the Year—Living Blues\, Magazine. CD RELEASE OF CHAPTER 3\n \nEvery once in a blue moon someone comes out with a song that makes you take notice. Not only did he come with a song\, but he also made a video to go along with it. Texas born E.J. Mathews\, originally from Atlanta\, Texas now makes his home in Dallas. Mathews lived just outside Atlanta\, Texas in the small rural community of Bivins\, Texas. Located near Leek Creek and the Louisiana state line he got his musical influence from his grandfather who was from south Georgia. Mathews recalls his “granddaddy Zan used to sit on the front porch at night and play slide guitar with his pocket knife\, all the while spitting watermelon seeds off the porch and watching lightnin’ bugs flicker in the night.”\nHis granddaddy loved listening to country and blues and Mathews says his musical style is somewhere in the middle\, a little bit of the blues\, with a touch of some country mixed in.\nI don’t want to sound like everybody else; I just want to be me. Grandaddy never played any cover tunes. There’s nothing wrong with it\, it’s just not me.\nHe said he wants to tell a story through his music his way and that’s the same philosophy he uses when writing a song such as “Down On The Creek (Ford Pickup).”\nMathews says he has over a hundred songs he has written and has been told by some people his music sounds like swamp boogie and country blues. Mathews says “It’s just me\, my kind of music.”\n“I don’t want to sound like everybody else; I just want to be me. Grandaddy never played any cover tunes. There’s nothing wrong with it\, it’s just not me.”His parents divorced years ago and so he moved to Oklahoma for a spell where he graduated school and then headed back to the great state of Texas. Mathews worked as a truck driver for years and now works in education in Desoto\, Texas. But Mathews lifelong dream of being a musician still keeps calling.\n“So I say\, I will continue to give this music thing a shot and see where it leads me.”\nA devoted family man first and staunch Christian\, the dream has just begun for the E.J. Mathews Band. \nhttp://ejmathews.com \n$15.00Read more

SUMMARY:Culver City's Boulevard Music Summer Festival—Carl Verheyen Band w John Jorgenson
\nTonight we feature the Carl Verheyen Band with special guest John Jorgenson.\nCarl Verheyen in his 40-plus years of playing the instrument has created a wildly successful\, multi-faceted career. He is a critically acclaimed musician\, vocalist\, songwriter\, arranger\, producer and educator with fourteen CDs and two live DVDs released worldwide. Carl is commonly regarded as a guitar virtuoso capable of playing any style of music with remarkable mastery and conviction. He has been one of LA’s elite “first call” session players for the past 25 years\, playing on hundreds of records\, movie soundtracks and television shows. Verheyen has graced the pages of countless industry publications and been the subject of numerous articles chronicling his rise to the forefront of the modern day guitar scene. Carl has won numerous polls and musical honors in the US\, Germany\, France\, Italy and the UK.\nCarl has been playing the guitar every day since 1965 and has always made his living with the instrument. A member of the smash hit British rock group Supertramp since 1985\, Carl has played to millions of enthusiastic fans in sold out arenas worldwide. As the creative force behind the Carl Verheyen Band\, his 14-record discography showcases his endless talents across a wide array of musical genres. \nCarl is also a much sought after studio musician playing on many other artists’ records whenever his busy schedule permits. He has recorded and played with a virtual who’s who of the music industry and his vast collection of movie soundtracks and television credits is amazing. At the 2009 Academy Awards\, Carl was heard by 67\,000\,000 people as a featured soloist.\nCarl has also been featured in 2 documentary films: Grand Designs: The Music of Carl Verheyen and Turn it Up! a film about the electric guitar. \nPlus Special Guest John Jorgenson\nJohn Jorgenson born July 6\, 1956 in Madison\, Wisconsin\, is perhaps best known for his guitar work with bands such as the Desert Rose Band and The Hellecasters. Jorgenson is also proficient in the mandolin\, mandocello\, Dobro\, pedal steel\, piano\, upright bass\, clarinet\, bassoon\, and saxophone. John Jorgenson\, known for his blistering guitar and mandolin licks and mastery of a broad musical palette\, has earned a reputation as a world-class musician\, as evidenced by his collaborations with Earl Scruggs\, Bonnie Raitt\, Elton John\, Luciano Pavarotti\, Bob Dylan and many others. \nFirst coming to national attention in the mid ‘80s as co-founder of successful country-rock act The Desert Rose Band\, an eclectic array of artists such as Bonnie Raitt\, Bob Seger and Barbra were drawn to add Jorgenson’s artistry to their own recordings. While a member of the Desert Rose Band\, Jorgenson won the Academy of Country Music’s “Guitarist of the Year” award two consecutive years. \nIn the ‘90s The Hellecasters gave audiences a chance to experience John’s fretboard fireworks in an unrestrained venue and the trio’s three original albums remain favorites of guitarists everywhere. Having been a fan of the Desert Rose Band\, Elton John invited Jorgenson to join his band in 1994 for an 18 month tour that stretched into a six-year stint of touring\, recording and TV appearances with the British superstar\, in addition to collaborations with other artists including Sting and Billy Joel. \n2010 marked the 100th birthday of the great gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt. Since discovering Django in 1979\, Jorgenson has become “the US Ambassador of Gypsy Jazz” which is quite an honor given the distinctly European slant of the music’s heritage. Over the years Jorgenson has continued to honor the legacy of Reinhardt by bringing his unique brand of Gypsy Jazz to the masses with his John Jorgenson Quintet. \nAvoid the crowds and parking hassles of other areas on the Westside. Parking is free for one hour (2 hours with festival validation) in designated structures in downtown Culver City\, and dozens of dining options are available within walking distance. SUMMARY:TRACY NEWMAN PLUS ART PODELL
DESCRIPTION:Picture a scrawny fourteen-year-old girl sitting on a diving board over an empty pool on an overcast day\, strumming the same four chords over and over again\, on her brother’s cheap acoustic guitar. That’s Tracy Newman\, but that’s not how she sees herself. From Tracy’s POV\, the pool is full and clear blue\, it’s a bright sunny LA day\, and her brother’s guitar is the best guitar in the world! That kind of sums up singer/songwriter Tracy Newman’s body of work to date. There are some genuinely happy songs in the mix\, but overall\, if you really listen you will hear the truth. “A Place in the Sun” is great traveling music\, and you can’t help but smile and sing along\, then it hits you: Wow\, there’s more to this than meets the ear. “I Just See You” will make you cry for the beauty of what didn’t realize you had. “That’s What Love Can Do to Your Heart” will drag you kicking and screaming through the carefree beginning to the bitter end of your most memorable love affair. You will not be able to get these songs out of your mind. \nTracy is a founding member of the LA based improv group\, The Groundlings\, which over the years has became the farm company for SNL. She began writing TV comedy in 1990 with writing partner\, Jonathan Stark. Their first gig was Cheers\, then Bob\, The Nanny\, Ellen and The Drew Carey Show. In 1997\, they won an Emmy and Peabody Award for writing the groundbreaking “coming out” episode of Ellen. In 2001\, they created the ABC comedy\, According to Jim\, which ran for eight seasons. Tracy is back to music now\, full time. \n\nPLUS ON THE SAME BILL—ART PODELL\nHad Art Podell kept a diary\, it would have been a rich chronicle of the life of a folksinger during the Folk Era and as a songwriter in the years since\, spiced with a healthy serving of laughter. Unfortunately\, he didn’t. Instead\, at the coaxing of friends and former folkies\, he is spilling the beans on stage. He began in Greenwich Village with friend and fellow musician\, Paul Potash. Art and Paul released two albums on Columbia Records. The first — “Songs of Earth and Sky” — is considered a folk classic and is rumored to have influenced the early recordings of another “Art and Paul” (Garfunkel and Simon). (Begrudgingly\, Art finally admitted last year that they were “pretty good.”) In the Village\, Peter Yarrow\, their friend\, shared a new song with them called “Puff\, the Magic Dragon” and it was Art and Paul who first recorded the song in 1961 — well over a year before Peter\, Paul and Mary’s version. In 1961\, the boys headed west to the L.A. folk scene. “We were so successful\,” Art remembers while scratching his head\, “we broke up.” Art turned to songwriting. In short order\, he had songs recorded by Rod McKuen\, The Smothers Brothers\, Glenn Yarbrough\, Joe and Eddie\, Bud and Travis\, Barry and Barry\, and\, eventually\, The New Christy Minstrels\, whom he joined as one of the original members in 1962 until 1966. Quite a ride — from the Troubadour to Carnegie Hall in less than six months…national TV\, college concerts\, European tours\, and performances at the White House. Art co-wrote the title song for Ann Murray’s Christmas album\, ‘Christmas Wishes’.Art continues to write and perform and hosts a bi-monthly segment of “Roots Music and Beyond” on KPFK 90.7FM – Los Angeles\, a Pacifica Station in Los Angeles. His new CD\, ‘From The Village To The Canyon’ was recently featured in an exhibit at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles featuring the music of Laurel Canyon. \n“Art Podell presents an evening of music\, laughter\, songs\, stories and memories shared through his signature story/songs. He sometimes divulges a few secrets about friends — famous and not. (Consequently\, he is currently looking for a qualified bodyguard – preferably one who plays banjo \nhttps://tracynewman.com \nhttp://artpodell.com/ \n$15.00Read more

Conganas also features Cuban pianist Fermin Sifontes\, American bassist Rene Camacho\, and Venezuelan trumpeter Enzo Villaparedes. What started as a concept and challenge of replicating the sound of a full Latin orchestra playing a variety of salsa\, cumbia\, cha-cha\, bolero\, and Latin jazz\, among many other Latin rhythms with only a quartet has led to many performance opportunities in diverse venues throughout Southern\, California. \nThe band has quickly created their unique Latin sound and spellbinding shows to other cultural frontiers. They are planning to release a new CD in in 2016. \nEach of the band members executes a vital instrument and also sings\, making this complicated task and particular sound\, a sought out band. Christian has assembled a wonderful cast of musicians\, writers\, teachers and historians and together they have put their stamp on their debut recording “Conganas”. \nAvoid the crowds and parking hassles of other areas on the Westside. SUMMARY:BIG DADDY
DESCRIPTION:The Court Jesters of Rock & Roll return to Boulevard Music on Saturday\, June 30th at 8 pm transforming the venue into a magical time tunnel where Top 40 hits sound as if they came blasting out of a 1950’s jukebox (Imagine The Bee Gees mega hit\, Stayin’ Alive as it might have sounded if recorded in 1959 by The Coasters). \nThe Rhino recording act\, BIG DADDY\, stormed the UK charts in 1985 with their Top 20 version of Bruce Springsteenʼs Dancing in The Dark. They have released six LPs to date: “Cutting Their Own Groove” and “Sgt. Pepperʼs” have both placed on Stereophile Magazine’s “Records To Die For.” \nBIG DADDY continues to amaze audiences with outrageous renditions of Pop & Rock standards. Their 2015 release “Smashing Songs of Stage & Screen” and the addition of newer works by Taylor Swift and Bruno Mars\, make this band both relevant and timeless. \n   “More than a gimmick\, Big Daddy creates new takes on Pop and Rock songs that are consistently inspired\, illuminating and often hilarious.”\n–Randy Lewis\, LA Times \nBE THERE…DONʼT BE SQUARE! \nhttps://www.bigdaddythebandof59.com \nWatch this incredibly funny video by Big Daddy. \n\n$25.00Read more

SUMMARY:SUSIE GLAZE NEW FOLK ENSEMBLE + ROCKY NECK
DESCRIPTION:Award-winning vocalist Susie Glaze\, mandolinist Steve Rankin\, fiddler Mark Indictor and bassist Fred Sanders are The Susie Glaze New Folk Ensemble\, the newest version of the acclaimed Los Angeles-based Americana group\, a lush new folk Americana fusion ensemble\, presenting gorgeous eclectic blends of mountain folk and exciting new grassy and Celtic-inspired originals\, all with the remarkable voice of Susie Glaze. The group has been likened to the classic British bands Pentangle and Fairport Convention in that they blend classic folk music with rough-edged stories of tragedy and fate\, all with orchestral arrangements sounding like chamber music gone folk! The band has appeared at many premier venues and festivals on the West Coast\, including Berkeley’s Freight & Salvage\, The Broad Stage\, the Hollywood Bowl\, Palms Playhouse\, Don Quixote’s Music Hall\, Kuumbwa Jazz Center and CalTech Folk Music Society among others. Their CD “White Swan” was released in March of 2013 to critical acclaim from No Depression\, FolkWorks\, Pop Matters\, M Magazine for Musicians\, Music News Nashville and FolkWords UK among others\, and charted in the Top 50 on the Roots Music Report’s Combined Internet and Terrestrial Folk Chart. Their new album “Not That Kind of Girl” produced by Herb Pedersen was released in June 2015 and is enjoying critical acclaim and radio airplay around the country. “If there were a word to describe this fine band\, it would be sophisticated. They draw influences from disparate sources to meld their sound. The level of musicianship is exemplary.… display a great range of prowess and work as a tight unit.” — Bluegrass Unlimited. “…one of the finest and most original Americana groups in California (or in the country for that matter).” No Depression. Augmenting their sound is the lush\, Celtic sounds of Rankin’s bouzouki\, the mountain sounds of Susie’s Appalachian dulcimer and traditional autoharp\, with Mark Indictor’s virtuoso fiddling and Fred Sanders’ remarkable bass work rounding out the orchestral nature of this amazing quartet. \nPlus Rocky Neck Bluegrass Band the Southern California based group with a current lineup featuring Devitt Feeley on mandolin\, Dennis Witcher on bass and vocals\, and John Rosen on banjo. Rocky Neck started in the bluegrass music field by winning first place in the 2009 Topanga Banjo and Fiddle “Band Contest”. In January of 2012 they took first place in the California Bluegrass Association’s “Great 48 Showcase Showdown”\, competing against the top bluegrass bands from across the state. Their first recording\, “Rocky Neck Bluegrass Band” released in November of 2010\, was recorded in a 1920’s cabin in the mountain community of Big Bear\, CA\, and was mastered by legendary bluegrass engineer Billy Wolf in Arlington\, VA. Their bluegrass arrangement of Neil Young’s “Comes A Time” as well as the fresh arrangement of “Girl I Left Behind Me” have been receiving regular airplay on radio stations across the country. There blend of fresh bluegrass arrangements\, original tunes\, traditional music is attractive to fans of not only bluegrass but also blues\, country\, and folk-oriented listeners. \nhttp://www.susieglaze.com \nhttp://www.rockyneckbluegrass.com \n$17.50Read more

SUMMARY:THE BAREFOOT MOVEMENT
DESCRIPTION:Heartfelt\, energetic\, and down home. Heralded by CMT Edge as “one of the most promising bands on the bluegrass scene\,” the music of the Nashville based group The Barefoot Movement is as down to earth as their intention for members of their audience: sit back\, relax\, take your shoes off\, and stay a while. All the worries and frustrations of the world melt away as this charming\, acoustic band takes listeners back to a simpler place and time. Whether you’re seeking emotional ballads or rip-roaring barn-burners\, you can expect a collection of music that offers something for everyone. With two full length albums\, an EP of traditional music\, several cross-country tours\, and appearances at some of the top bluegrass festivals in the United States already under their belt\, the possibilities for this act are endless. The group has enjoyed almost non-stop touring including a trip to Burkina Faso\, Africa where they were guests of the American Embassy\, and in September of 2014\, they received a Momentum Award\, naming them “Band of the Year” by the International Bluegrass Music Association. \nTheir show is as fun to watch as it is to hear. The smiles on the faces of the band are obvious displays of the joy and excitement they feel when performing and the audience shares in the fun. With effortlessly executed transitions\, the pacing between the softer and more vigorous numbers constantly has fans on the edge of their seats. \nThe “movement” can be traced back to the teen years of singer-songwriter and fiddler Noah Wall\, of Oxford\, NC. Just as she had begun penning her first compositions\, she met mandolinist Tommy Norris their senior year of high school. Convinced of their musical chemistry and driven by mutual ambition\, they continued to build the band from the ground up throughout their college careers. While Tommy studied classical music and recording engineering at Western Carolina University\, Noah chose East Tennessee State\, particularly for their Bluegrass\, Old-time and Country Music Program. Here she began to shape her musical identity\, under the tutelage of ETSU’s renown staff\, and found an instrumental home in old time fiddling. With the addition of versatile guitarist and singer Alex Conerly of Hattiesburg\, MS in 2013\, and most recently\, Katie Blomarz of Frankfort\, IL on the upright bass\, the lineup was complete with all the elements that make up the Barefoot sound: lush harmonies\, thoughtful instrumentation\, and memorable melodies. \nIt has now been seven years since The Barefoot Movement took off their shoes and took to the stage. Hard work and talent have taken them from east coast to west\, from north to south\, and even across the Atlantic Ocean. They have appeared in Country Weekly Magazine\, RollingStone.com\, CMT Edge\, Music City Roots\, and Woodsongs Old-Time Radio Hour. Their original music was featured on the Outdoor Channel’s program “Huntin’ the World: Southern Style” and their music video for their popular song “Second Time Around” has been seen nationally on the Zuus Country Network. They have been selected as showcase artists at both the International Bluegrass Music Association and the Americana Festival conferences and were first runners up at the 2013 Telluride Bluegrass Festival’s New Band Competition. \nhttp://www.thebarefootmovementofficial.com \n$17.50Read more	\n \n \n

SUMMARY:NE'ER DUWELS
DESCRIPTION:BUY TICKETS— \nWhat do a Grammy award winning percussionist\, a prolific Irish bard and balladeer\, a master of the uilleann pipes\, and an indie producer/guitarist have in common? They are The Ne’er Duwels\, a formidable quartet of seasoned musicians who weave a seamless blend of traditional Irish music\, world rhythms and a sound distinctly their own. \nThe “real deal” from Ireland\, Ken O’Malley‘s rich\, resonant voice and engaging stage presence have delighted audiences for over 30 years. “He holds nothing back. Whether singing a passionate ballad\, playing a solo on the mandolin\, or explaining the gloriously sad history of Erin his homeland\, Ken O’Malley is all-in\, wide open to the world\, and as true as an arrow’s flight. Ken’s fine tenor voice could carry him through a show all alone\, but he backs himself beautifully on guitar and mandolin. . . .His wonderful wit and good humor draw us in and carry us along\, and the beauty of his songs\, both traditional and original\, fills us with irresistible joy.”\n \nJoining Ken onstage is Patrick D’Arcy\, also from Dublin\, one of the finest uilleann pipers in the United States. Patrick has toured extensively with many well known artists throughout the world and is also a talented pennywhistle and bodhran player. He is an expert on the culture and history of the Irish pipes and as such is a much sought after teacher and consultant. His work has been featured in many film\, television and live theatre productions and was a founding member of the band Flogging Molly.\n \nBryan Dobbs is the “sound” of the Ne’er Duwels. Originally from New Mexico\, Bryan adds the mysterious\, the romantic and the attack that traverses the musical spectrum\, accompanying on the mandolin\, the acoustic guitar or the very creative\, innovative sounds of his Fender Stratocaster. \nGrammy award winning percussionist Forrest Robinson provides the heartbeat of the ensemble. An alumni of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga\, Forrest has traveled the globe to perform with such artists as India Arie\, Victor Wooten\, Arrested Development\, TLC\, and many others. A lover of Celtic music and rhythms\, Forrest drives the rhythm that combines The Ne’er Duwels’ unique\, eclectic blend of traditional Irish music and song with a modern\, electronic edge. \nThe band began two years ago when Ken enlisted Bryan and Pat to join him for a weekend of shows in a casino near Las Vegas and it was there that the magic began. Later\, Forrest met Ken at one of his solo concerts\, another flame was lit and the four became the Ne’er Duwels. \nTheir debut album features traditional Irish music combined with the lush backing and textures of Bryan’s guitars\, locked in by the explosive nature of Forrest’s drumming with Pat’s whistles and pipes hauntingly woven throughout. Ken’s rich voice and solid guitar playing complete the sound that is the Ne’er Duwels. \nhttp://neerduwels.com \n$17.50Read more

SUMMARY:LAURIE LEWIS AND THE RIGHT HANDS
DESCRIPTION:THIS SHOW IS AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE ONLINE—FOR TICKETS CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW \nLaurie Lewis and the Right hands were honored in 2016 by receiving a Grammy nomination for Best Bluegrass Album. Laurie Lewis and Tom Rozum\, who are featured in this group\, are widely regarded as being among the preeminent bluegrass and Americana artists of our time. Since forming a musical partnership in 1986\, when Tom first joined Laurie’s acclaimed band\, Grant Street\, between them they have recorded over 20 albums and performed around the globe. These Grammy-nominated artists (for their 1995 album The Oak and the Laurel) are widely regarded as among the leading lights of modern bluegrass and are highly-prized by their peers as sidemen and producers. International Bluegrass Music Association executive director Dan Hays calls Laurie “one of the preeminent bluegrass and Americana artists of our time.” Acclaimed musician Sam Bush puts it more simply\, calling her “a great singer\, terrific fiddle player\, fine songwriter\, and one very good band leader.” Laurie also performed on both the Grammy-award winning\, 1997 IBMA album of the year True Life Blues: The Songs of Bill Monroe\, and the Grammy-nominated Ralph Stanley & Friends’ release Clinch Mountain Country. Featuring Patrick Sauber on banjo & guitar and anything else that has strings on it\, Bandon Godman from the great Bluegrass state of Kentucky on fiddle\, and Sam Grisman with his innovative and sensitive playing who grew up hearing the music of his father (another Grisman\, first name David) who was a strong infuence on him musically. \n“It’s possible to be a strong female presence in the Bluegrass music world\, but you have to be really strong. Laurie is one of the greatest Bluegrass artists\, woman or man\, because of her consistency over decades\, the depth and width of her subject matter\, her commitment to the Bluegrass form\, and her technical command. Oh yes\, and her strength. Laurie’s strength manifests in many ways: her commanding presence on stage combined with an emotional vulnerability\, the truths in her lyrics\, her physical voice which transcends gender\, her strong commitment to causes and issues in which she deeply believes\, which all resonate with a respect for the land\, the natural world\, and human mercy and justice.” –– Darol Anger \n“A quintessential stylist who creates mandolin breaks with the same passion and precision Monet put into his brush strokes\, Tom Rozum ought to be recognized as a mandolinist of the first order.” –– Mandolin Magazine \n\nMain Page \n\n$20.00Read more

SUMMARY:TONY FURTADO FEATURING JOHN REISCHMAN & LUKE PRICE
DESCRIPTION:THIS SHOW IS AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE ONLINE—FOR TICKETS CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW \nGenre-spanning multi-instrumentalist and 2x National Banjo champion Tony Furtado combines elements of folk\, blues\, bluegrass\, rock\, and a whole lot more into a potent Americana musical blend that explores our shared musical frontiers and traditions with fearless creativity. A prolific and adventuresome recording artist\, Furtado has recorded nearly 20 critically acclaimed albums since 1990. His recent album\, The Bell-winner of both the Album of the Year and Acoustic Rock Album of the Year awards in 2015 from the Indie Acoustic Project Awards\, was released on his own YousayFurtado Records in 2015\, as was an accompanying six-song EP\, Copper and Tin. Relix hit the nail on the head about Furtado and his boundary-stretching music: “True talent doesn’t need categories.” David Lindley calls Tony Furtado “a musical force without a doubt” and the two-time national banjo champion and peerless slide guitar master does indeed burn it down\, tonight performing with his superb trio featuring hot fiddle and upright bass. Tonight’s show also celebrates the release of Tony’s new CD Cider House Sessions – Live at Reverend Nat’s showing off his versatility and wide-ranging imagination which are on full\, vivid display. Tony’s highly anticipated live acoustic release draws from all phases and periods of his career. Tony will be joined on stage by Grammy winning mandolinist John Reischman and two time national fiddle champion Luke Price. \n“Tony Furtado is a major musical force without a doubt. He has his black-belt in voice and bottleneck guitar and his banjo playing scares the crap out of me.” \n– David Lindley\, musical adventurer \nJohn Reischman is known today for his work with his band the Jaybirds and his acclaimed solo albums\, but he got his start as an original member of the Tony Rice Unit in the late 1970s. With the Tony Rice Unit\, Reischman helped define the “new acoustic music” movement in bluegrass thanks to their high profile albums on Rounder Records. Building this sound\, Reischman was of course influenced early on by Monroe’s mandolin playing\, but also by the playing of early bluegrass mandolinists like Sam Bush\, David Grisman\, and jazz mandolinist Jethro Burns. John Reischman is one of the premier mandolinists of his generation. He’s a master instrumentalist capable of swinging between re-inventions of traditional old-time tunes\, deconstructions from the bluegrass repertoire\, and compelling original tunes\, many of which have become standards.”He’s a master instrumentalist capable of swinging between re-inventions of traditional old-time tunes\, deconstructions from the bluegrass repertoire\, and compelling original tunes\, many of which have become standards.” \nhttp://www.tonyfurtado.com \nhttp://www.johnreischman.com \n$17.50Read more

SUMMARY:NATHAN MCEUEN & NATALIE GELMAN
DESCRIPTION:THIS SHOW IS AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE ONLINE—FOR TICKETS CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW \nLive at Boulevard two modern day troubadours Nathan McEuen & Natalie Gelman with their original songs and great covers. Half of the night belongs to Natalie Gelman who performs across the country tirelessly and just released a new album with producers Charlie Midnight (James Brown) and Mark Needham (The Killers) titled Streetlamp Musician after a song she wrote about street performing and watching New York City change over time. \nRaised in the old West Village\, NYC stomping ground of songwriting greats\, Natalie Gelman grew up amidst artists and true bohemians. She borrowed a friends guitar at 16 and started writing songs on it immediately and began busking on subway platforms soon afterwards when she grew tired of pretending to be 21 to play clubs in the city. \nCaptivating tourists and straphangers alike in the subway\, Natalie stopped even the most hurried commuters in their tracks with her powerful voice. She continues to play what she calls her favorite stage while also performing at the House of Blues\, Webster Hall and festivals across the country. \nCompared to Sheryl Crow\, Jewel and Joni Mitchell\, Natalie’s music is contemporary and timeless. She writes honest\, heartfelt songs – responding to current affairs and revealing parts of her inner self with the world. “Not too much about her\, but somehow about me & everyone in the audience as well.” \n“Simply Terrific” 4/4 stars – The New York Post \nStarting his solo career in 2005; with the release of his first full length record “Grand Design\,” to present day\,  Nathan McEuen has written nearly 80 songs\, produced five full length records\, and has independently sold over 60\,000 CDs. The past 10 years has been a non-stop musical adventure filled with over 2\,000 live shows across the U.S.A.\, Canada & Europe with highlight performances including: The Grand Ole Opry (3 times)\, American Idol (w/ Steve Martin)\, The Tonight Show (w/ Hanna-McEuen)\, Music City Roots\, XM/Sirius Radio\, iTunes\, Yahoo.com’s Ram Country\, Voice of America Radio\, Woodsongs\, The Stagecoach Festival and climbing to a #1 spot on Amazon.com’s Americana chart with his collaborative effort “The McEuen Sessions.”\n      While growing up on the road and traveling around the world with his father John McEuen (of the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band)\, Nathan’s first big solo performance came at 14 years old when he was asked by his father to sing a song and play guitar at the Olympic Bid Party for the International Olympic Committee in downtown Salt Lake City\, on March 17\, 1995… for over 15\,000 people\, his face would be on a Jumbo Tron and that he was opening for John Denver.  It was this experience that would forever change his life…\n     Nathan had an early start on his star-studded career. Through the years he has had the good fortune to open for\, perform or work with various artists such as: John Carter Cash\, David Crosby\, Graham Nash\, Jim Messina\, Dave Mason\, Chris Hillman\, Dwight Yoakam\, Carrie Underwood\, Brad Paisley\, Lyle Lovett\, Avett Brothers\, Leon Russell\, Steve Martin\, John Oates\, Vassar Clements\, Kevin Nealon\, Willie Nelson\, John Denver\, David Grisman\,  to name a few…\n     With over 2\,500 live shows\, 20 years of touring\, and nearly 80 songs penned\, Nathan McEuen’s heritage\, passion for original music\, entertaining and performing is evident in every song\, and is best experienced through his live shows and on his newest record “Side by Side” (Mesa BlueMoon Recordings). \nhttp://nataliegelman.com \nhttp://www.nathanmceuen.com

SUMMARY:MISS TESS AND THE TALKBACKS
DESCRIPTION:THIS SHOW IS AVAILABLE TO PURCHASE ONLINE—FOR TICKETS CLICK ON THE LINK BELOW \n“A rare mix of jazz-infused old-time country\, swing\, and rockabilly” – Pulse Magazine \n“I don’t know of anyone else right now touring in the Americana scene that has such an eclectic\, jazzy\, old school and interesting vibe. There’s an authenticity present in Miss Tess’ music. It is not contrived\, not too far a stretch for the skeptical imagination. She is real. And she is rare.”  – No Depression \nMiss Tess got her musical start at home in Maryland\, her childhood nights ending in music. Her parents would sing her to sleep with the gentle\, tender sounds of American folk songs\, occasionally interrupted by their 30s swing band rehearsing in the basement. Tess studied piano as a child\, and continued on as a teenager to take up the guitar and singing\, and eventually began her own studies in early jazz and blues. All grown up and currently living in Nashville\, Miss Tess and her band regularly steal the show at venues with something a little rowdier and more eclectic. Infused with classic country and honky-tonk\, southern rhythm & blues\, New Orleans jazz and swing\, and sounds of swamp pop and early rock n’ roll\, she is an embodiment of everything that it still home-grown in America. Enjoyable is just what her music is\, propelled by the classic quality of Tess’s vocals\, compelling and totally believable. \nA follow up to 2012’s Sweet Talk and 2013’s The Love I Have for You\, both released on Signature Sounds Recordings\, Baby\, Tess released We All Know independently and received accolades in the press as well as reaching the Top 20 in AMA Radio Charts and being included in the top 100 albums of the year for 2016. The production throughout is the right balance of punch and rhythm\, without getting in the way of the vocals or songwriting\, giving this collection of songs a plentiful dose of old-school swagger.  \n“Miss Tess renders original songs with a self-possession and naturalness that heralds one of the most enjoyable albums this year.” –Downbeat \nhttp://www.misstessmusic.com \n$15.00Read more
