JONATHAN STOUT TRIO FEATURING HILARY ALEXANDER

Saturday, August 15 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$28

Showcasing the small-group sound of the late 1930’s and early 1940’s tonight’s group features Jonathan Stout on guitar and Hilary Alexander on vocals.Jonathan Stout is a bandleader, well-known to swing dancers everywhere for the wonderful dance orchestras he leads, but any fan of swing guitar currently stalking the internet knows him for his mastery of the electric swing guitar style of Charlie Christian, and the acoustic chord-melody style of Allan Reuss. Influences include the Benny Goodman Sextet, Artie Shaw’s Grammercy Five, Count Basie’s Kansas City Six, and the Harlem-based small groups of Illinois Jacquet, Cootie Williams, Coleman Hawkins, and Hot Lips Page. Jonathan recently taught at Frank Vignola’s Jazz Camp and also performed two weeks at New York’s famous jazz club Birdland. Recently featured on the “Fretboard Journal Podcast”, Jonathan brings his fabulous trio plus the fabulous vocalist Hilary Alexander to Boulevard Music capturing the sounds of the swing guitar era. The guitar-centric trio features both sides of Jonathan’s playing, acoustic and electric. The superb trio ensemble also features Myles Prowers Davis on clarinet and Sam Rocha on bass.
